Treatment & Recovery

Treatment for substance use and addiction disorders

In-patient treatment is offered at The Foundation Clinic located in South Africa.

The Foundation Clinic was founded in 2001 and since its beginnings has been committed to the
recovery and wellness of our clients. The treatment practices and modalities at the clinic have
changed over the years, but the clinic’s ethos of unconditional positive regard for our clients and
their families, has not changed.

The team is passionate about individualised treatment plans that are aligned with our clients’ needs,
wants, goals, values and resources. Each client is supported in developing their personal and
professional recovery capital to develop an authentic, meaningful recovery through a combination of
individual and group processes.

possible as well.

10 Day Wellness Program + 1 Year Aftercare Program

Recovery Wellness Program (RWP) – Online

The RWP is an outpatient and aftercare programme, which has been developed using adult education, peer support and recovery coaching. This program is meant for anyone who has completed in-patient treatment.

Our program is well suited as an adjacent program to your aftercare provided by the clinic you went for your in-patient treatment. Part of the admissions process to RWP is an intake where we tailor the program to your needs and where you are at in your recovery.

You are encouraged to attend the core coaching programme for a period of three to six weeks to ground and anchor your recovery and create a scaffolding on which to build your personal recovery and wellness.

During this time, you do have access to individual coaching and after the initial period you have access to the outpatient programme for 12 months to support sustained recovery and wellness.

2. Therapy with specialist

Essential part of the aftercare is the continuous treatment with the specialists. Our healthcare psychologist will make sure that the client has consistent follow up therapy based on the work and progress done during the inpatient treatment.

Possible specialized treatment includes:

01

Polyvagal informed therapy

02

EMDR

03

Trauma & Tension Release Therapy

04

Neurofeedback therapy

3. Family Program

Family members are an integral part of the systemic approach to healing from impacts of the addiction.

There is recovery journey that family members need to get on and we help in making that happen.

Recovery coaches support families individually and in a group meetings family members get the support, answers and insights needed to steer down their own path of recovery.

2. Educating and training

There is an educational element to The Recovery Wellness Programme that supports you in better understanding your substance use disorder and how to create a sustainable recovery. This also gives you an opportunity to learn new tools and skills that will empower you.

By being responsible for your personal development, you are better equipped to manage their recovery in a holistic and honest way.

We recommend having a notebook or learning journal to record your thoughts, ideas, and experiences, and complete some of the activities in more detail.

Where empowering the client is central driving force to getting well and staying well, we have designed educational program where clients can engage and follow 8 weeks Peer Recovery Specialist course.

During this phase of the aftercare program, client deepens the learning about the addiction and gains an invaluable insight into own-self and obtains skills set to help others who suffer from substance abuse and/or addictive behaviors.

5. Group meetings

There are daily group meetings available from which 3 meetings a week are on fixed schedule and
form the minimum required attendance as part of the RWP.
